They say that around 90% of people with sleep apnea dont actually know that they have it

A few of the symptoms are waking up in the middle of the night gasping for breath, loud snoring and feeling sleepy during the day

Here are two quizzes you can take that can give you an idea if you have OSA. Take the quiz and talk to your doctor about the results. Some of the questions are repeated from one quiz to the other.

First learn to spell it correctly it’s Sleep Apnea.First step is to see a neurologist and if he/she thinks it’s Sleep Apnea they will refer you to a Sleep Clinic and they will determine if it’s Sleep Apnea. You didn’t state why your friend thought that was the problem.

General – This word can be spelled both ways correctly. It is acceptable to be spelled as apnea AND as apnoea. Maybe you should do your research before you answer so harshly!

Some of the most common signs and symptoms of sleep apnea are snoring, morning headaches and daytime fatigue. Most people who have sleep apnea are not aware that they have it. When you stop breathing (apnea means lack of breath) during sleep your brain wakes you up momentarily in order for your body to resume it’s normal breathing. You do not realize that you have woken up as you return to sleep very quickly. This accounts for the morning headaches and daytime fatigue.
You should consult with an ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat; called an otorhinolaryngologist). They will conduct a sleep study to determine how many times you stop breathing during your sleep and how much your body is depleted of oxygen during these episodes.
Sleep apnea can be very dangerous. It can lead to problems with your heart.
    Good luck.
